K. B. Women's College, a premier educational institution for women in Hazaribag is a constituent unit of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, Jharkhand, founded in 1963. It was then known as the 'Women's College' and later on, the college shifted to its present premises and was renamed as 'Krishna Bhallabh Women's College'. It is situated in the heart of the Hazaribag town of the North Chotanagpur Division. It is surrounded by Koderma district in the North, Ramgarh district in the South, Giridih district in the East and Chatra district in the West. Hazaribag is a glorious city known for its flora and fauna, fabulous greeneries, enchanting hills, lakes, springs, and plenty of medicinal plants and mineral resources that have been serving humanity as a whole. It was named after an active freedom fighter Shri Krishna Ballabh Sahay, who after Indian Independence became the Revenue Minister of Bihar and then became the third Chief Minister of unified Bihar. He had contributed a lot to enact a law to abolish the Zamindari system from the state.

Our college caters to the academic and professional needs of girls, belonging not only to Hazaribag town but also to adjoining rural areas and nearby states. It imparts degree-level education. The college initially started with only five students in the Arts Stream and had a few teaching staffs. The Science Stream was introduced in the year 1975. And, the Commerce Stream was added subsequently. In 1995, a Vocational Course in CND (Clinical Nutrition Dietetics) was added by taking assistance from UGC.

Since its inception, the college has consistently been making efforts to enhance quality education. The college hostel provides a congenial ambience for the academic pursuits of young women. The college celebrated its golden jubilee with great fervour during the year 2013-14. The college displayed its academic excellence in the First Cycle of NAAC Accreditation and awarded with 'B++ Grade' (CGPA 2.81) in 2016.

In its endeavour to equip young students with employability skills, the college introduced Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) & Bachelor in Fashion Designing in 2017, Bachelor of Corporate Secretaryship (BCS) in 2018, and Bachelor in Medical Lab Technology & PG Diploma in Hospital Management in 2019. Over the years, the college has been gradually increasing its infrastructure. The New Science Block added a distinctive hallmark to the existing edifice of learning, which was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Governor of Jharkhand, Smt. Droupadi Murmu on 11 Jan 2019. Year by year, the college made remarkable progress on all fronts and also introduced PG Courses in three subjects in 2021- MA in English, MA in Hindi and MA in History.

Being the single women's educational institutions of the North Chotanagpur Division, the college is moving ahead towards women's empowerment in the true sense. It has achieved confidence for its commitment to academic excellence and the overall development of young women with optimism. It has 27 departments and over 6500 students on its rolls.
